The Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne (KKL Lucerne) is situated directly on Lake Lucerne. The KKL’s central location and stunning architecture (with a famous roof that projects out over the lake, water channels that incorporate the lake into the building complex, and a world-class concert hall) made for another very special Gerriets Business Brunch.
Launched in 2010, the Gerriets Business Brunches combine exceptional locations and good food with multi-disciplinary information typically unavailable in training courses. Previous Gerriets Business Brunches were held at the Semper Opera in Dresden, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and the new Opera House in Oslo.
Held on 19th October 2011, this brunch was a close collaboration between Gerriets, the KKL, the Theatre of Lucerne, and the SVTB-ASTT (Swiss Association of Theater and Entertainment Technicians).
Approximately 70 attendees, mainly from Switzerland, were welcomed by Peter Klemm, president of the SVTB-ASTT, and Andreas Gause, director of sales and marketing at Gerriets. The first lecture began right away, with the participants all keenly interested in Andreas Gause’s presentation on the technical background and uses of projection screens. Panasonic kindly provided projectors, so that uses of different screens could be demonstrated and tested. Peter Klemm invited SVTB-ASTT trainees to have their first hands-on experience with such equipment.
Over brunch served by KKL’s catering service, there was a lively and informative exchange of ideas and information amongst the attendees, many of whom came from different industries. Next came a lecture on dance floors by Ronald Lapka, from Gerriets, followed by a survey of major national and international fire protection standards by Andreas Gause. Last but not least, Andreas Främke took the audience on a journey through the history of art curtains, with many examples from major theaters and opera houses in the world.
Closing the event was a marvelous tour of the building, including the concert hall, that featured fascinating anecdotes and details directly from the professional staff and the KKL's technical director, Tjark Kuhlmei.
Many thanks to the KKL Lucerne for supporting this event and providing the venue. And we thank our customers for their attendance and their interest!
Tune in next time for a report on the next Business Brunch, at the State Opera in Vienna.
